INITRAMFS error during boot in UBUNTU


If you are facing this problems during startup of the system.............

Please follow the below steps to solve


Step 1 : Boot from the Ubuntu Live CD


Step 2 :  Open Terminal


Step 3 :  Type the command " sudo fdisk -l " in terminal


             It will display the hard disk size and other partition details


Step 4 : Type " sudo fsck -yv /dev/sdaX " and press enter ( if "X" is the " / " partition)

Step 5 :  After this reboot the system normally



If it doesn't work


Step 1 : Boot from the Ubuntu Live CD

Step 2 :  Open Terminal

Type the following commands in Terminal


#sudo debugfs -w /dev/sdaX
debugfs 1.41.11 (14-Mar-2010)
debugfs: clri <8>
debugfs: quit 


Restart into live cd again. and do

sudo fsck -yv /dev/sdaX 

...................Reboot and Ubuntu is back alive..............

  2. Just found tutorial & it's very helpful but, does anyone know what causes this error to begin with? It's happening to me more often than it used to & it seems to happen across the whole Ubuntu family
