How To Install Open Office 3.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 / 12.10 / 13.04


In this Tutorial i will tell you how to install Open office 3.4.1 on ubuntu 12.04 /12.10 /13.04 

If Libre office is already installed on your pc means remove it 

After  Sucessfull uninstall start the installation process

           #sudo apt-get --purge libreoffice*

Installation of Openoffice

Step 1:Login as root user



Step 2:Download the open office package from the official Site or Click here

Step 3:Extract the packages from the downloaded open office 



Step 4: Install the open office
In my scenario i extracted the packacge in desktop so go inside the extracted package and inside go to DEBS folder and execute the following command

            #dpkg -i *.deb



That's it Installation Finished but the icons are not available .so we need to install a liitle package it is available inside the desktop integration folder

Step 5: Install the Desktop shortcuts



         #dpkg -i  en-US/DEBS/desktop-integration/ *.deb

REMOVING OPENOFFICE

To completely remove open office issue the following command in terminal

         #apt-get purge openoffice *.*

        #apt-get autoremove

Thats it open office completely uninstalled sucessfully -->
